Who is an average Nigerian? You or Me?

I don’t even know where I belong!

The national TV operator (NTA) showed the out comes of their research titled “Who Is An Average Nigerian” based on individual earning capacity and the ability to sustain life.

Though Nigeria looks like a wealthy and rich country, an average Nigerian was defined on NTA News Extra as a person who:

  1. CANNOT afford 3 square meals daily for his family.
  2. CANNOT afford or even have no shelter.
  3. CAN ONLY send his children public schools where there is no school fees.
  4. CANNOT afford to pay for his family’s health.

I was emotionally touched when I saw the interviews NTA had with these average citizens. Most of them have very intense and less paying jobs like hawking, hard labor and more!

The worst thing is that, these average citizens account for ¾ (75%) of the total population of Nigeria. Thus, I should say our country is really in a critical condition!

Based on my deductions and physical assumptions; it means that only ¼ (25%) of Nigerians can be rated as ABOVE AVERAGE. If that is the case, then who is the rich?

Considering this research, I think we really need to change the way we do things and work towards the development of the this great nation. But, wait a minute. Where do you think you belong? Are you average or RICH?

Please appreciate what you have and learn to give out more!

We are no better than this poor people, what do you think?

Hello Ahmad dont be touched or shaked about what you saw on an NTA interviews talking on the poorest or the richness of Nigeria just follow the saying of the prophet on giving charity Narrated Hakim bin Hizam that the Prophet said:

The upper hand is better than the lower hand (i.e. he who gives in charity is better than him who takes it). One should start giving first to his dependents. And the best object of charity is that, which is given by a wealthy person (from the money which is left after his expenses). And whoever abstains from asking others for some financial help, Allah will give him and save him from asking others, Allah will make him self-sufficient. – (Bukhari)

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: He who makes a habit of asking from others reaches out for a brand of Fire, so let him refrain or continue, as he desires. – (Muslim)

Also, there is a point of correction on your second to the last statement pointing that we are in poor country, we are not we just dont know how to manage the resource of this our great country, assume to share the money of Nigeria to every citizen anyone in this country can sustain a very good life style.

“Allah ya Taimakemu, amma akwai matsala, just try your best, gobarar kusa kowa yayi mai fitar da shi.” that we are NIGERIA,NIGERIA,NIGERIA
